Dear Family and Friends.
In 2008, five years ago, Marcel and I also went to Alaska for the first time. We then traveled in our motor home with a group. With a wagon master and 12 other vehicles in our caravan, we toured through Alaska. Loved it. Gone just over 2 months, and making a lot of new friends we are still in touch with.
Five years later we decided to go again. But with a different approach. No driving for us this time. First we fly to Fairbanks, where we meet the rest of our group. Then after 2 nights stay and excusions in Fairbanks, we take the train/motorcoach to National parks for 7 days. Staying in various lodges for one or two nights. The last 7 nights we will take a cruise from Whittier to Vancouver on the Sapphire Princess (blue line). Cruising evenings and nights and ports in the day time for shore excursions or do our own thing. Our wonderful travel agent Sandi (who also makes house calls) has made all the arrangements for us.
Majestic mountains, glistening with fresh snow. Breathtaking crystal clear blue green water, midnight sunshine and wildlife galore. Love the wild country. Alaska is magnificent. Need I say more?
We are leaving May 18th and returning June 1st.
Again, we set up a blog for you to travel with us if you wish and post comments. As usual, the blog will be printed into a book, as we did with the Israel trip. Wonderful keepsake.
Love to you all
Alida and Marcel/Mom and Dad/Grandma and Grandpa.

Hi --- Nice to see that you guys are still travelling. We did a 6 week trip following the Mississippi River from start to finish (Gulf of Mexico) last fall and had a great trip. When you are on your way to Alaska will you be passing any where near Forestburg Ab? If you are maybe we could meet up with you for a visit. If you are on the Yellowhead Route (Hi-Way 16) we could also meet somewhere.

DeleteWhat! Then I read your Blogspot and it made more sense.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. I too would go back for the Nat'l Parks.
Enjoy the sites, sounds and wild flowers.
Our best to all. Will be checking in frequently.
Thx for keeping us in the loop.

Bon voyage! We are busy packing for our big move to our new home in Carman MB. Our move is planned for June 1st. Our church, stores, and most activities are in Carman.
