A picture of the complex. We were in the Wolf Den. |
Train to Takeena. We were in the last passenger car, which was the best. Lots of windows, plus also a small deck outside in the back. |
Our first experience on a train. Very personal service. Each passenger car was self-sufficient. Dining and bathrooms were downstairs. |
Scenery was spectacular no matter where you looked. We did not sit at all. No one was seated in the back 4 rows, so lots of room to wander. |
We were seated with a lovely couple from California. Georgetta and Mike. |

While we were eating, I saw 2 moose. Jill, a fellow traveler had her camera ready, took these pictures and was kind enough to send them to me for the blog. |
Train we passed going in the opposite direction. |
I took 168 pictures today!! Difficult to choose which ones to blog. |
Hurricane Gorge |
Train came to a complete stop for these kodak moments. |
Height of the seating is clearly seen here. |
We sure are small little creatures compared to the massive mountains around us. |
Arrival at the Talkeetna Station at 5 pm. |
At 6 we arrived at the McKinley Princess Lodge. |
All separate buildings again. |
Outside watching the Alaskan Mountain Range from the balcony. |
Ending our meal sharing a delicious desert. Yum. |
The train ride looks amazing! Someday for us, maybe... What a different view than from a car way down low to the ground and no view through the roof.
ReplyDeleteHow is it traveling with so many people? Does it feel busy when you stop somewhere? Hopefully you get to connect with some more people who make nice companions along the way.
I miss you soooo much Mommy!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteAawwww, I knew you would. I miss you too my favorite 39 year old son.
DeleteHugs to all of you.
What fantastic views from the train, what a train ride it must be.The accommodations and dining along the way look very good, and that dessert looked yummy, good thing you shared.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless Alida and Marcel we are enjoying being with you on this marvelous trip.
Love Gwenda & Ken xx
Just stunning!
ReplyDeleteDad, I wondered if they let you drive the train a little. Or did the train ride give you some additional ideas for your next train project? Perhaps a double-decker train, or snowtopped mountain scenery...
ReplyDeleteI can see you are both really enjoying this trip!
Love you both,
Your favourite son
You sure know your dad well Kevin. He ordered a train set from the train. lol. A replica of the train. Dad did much better on this trip than I did. Souvenir wise. Forgot to mention in the blog that we were on the last car, so were able to go outside for some glorious pictures. Love and miss you all. Mom
